...and again has approved posting this remaster

Changes made (Nero 7):
Cross-mixed disk 1 (76:24), disk 2 (79:21)
- more bass, instruments & voices clearer, more background ambience
- stereo balance improved and noise (including hum) reduced
Cut inter-track silences
Merged tracks, edited and re-tracked to smooth out track transitions
Increased volume of d1tr01 & 03 by +2dB to match d1tr02, d2tr01 +1dB to match d2tr02
Small left or right channel volume reduction of 2-5% to perfect stereo balance
Applied gentle EQ, +1dB bass and +3dB treble on disk 1 only, disk 2 didn't need it

and many months later using Nero 8:
Phase correction of complete tracks and short variations within tracks
Corrected hundreds of short volume variations within tracks

Quality: I'd give it an A+ now (EX is reserved for official CD quality only)

d1tr01 Ementeth-Re (06.14)
d1tr02 Hhai (11.11)
d1tr03 Theusz Hamtaahk (32.24)

d2tr02 Mekanik Destruktiw Kommandoh (43.02)

I just love this particular era of Magma, especially with Top / Pagnotti and Lockwood, and whilst the original sounding very good, substantial changes (details above) made it sound even better for my own listening enjoyment...

...Hope you like as much as I do !!

Original Notes (olvator)
---------- ---------- ----

Fantastic audience recording. Very clean, everything clearly audible. There seems to be some minor hiss and distortion during MDK, but all in all one of the best audience tapes I have heard from Magma. The show itself is very good. Due to microphone problems, CV is not singing on Hhai. He starts twice, but then gives up and the band jams into the piece.

I believe this recording has not been circulated for too long. Nice find!

Enjoy!

Magmasystems Notes:

This is the first time that these recordings have been released. The original reels came from "A French Gentleman" who stumbled upon the various Magma logs and who, as it turned out, had seen Magma several times in the 1970's. The gentleman not only had some assorted photographs, but had recorded various concerts. These tapes made their way to a well known DIME contributor who wishes to remain anonymous at this time. This person spent quite a bit of time digitizing the music and trying to clean up the sound. Some of these efforts were successful, some were not so ... as will be apparent in some later releases. I have dubbed these recordings "The French Gentlemen Tapes", and after about two years, I have been given permission to share these through time. Much thanks go to the Gentleman, as well as Trahnsferheur.
