Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader (unknown) who hooked me up with a copy.
I mastered this 2002-08-31, & still had the original WAVs.
The one thing I remember doing beyond adding track marks was with the levels at the end.
The guess title "Save Your Soul" & "Dali" had loud booming drum thumps louder than the bulk of the show.
I brought down those thumps, so that the overall levels for the whole show could them be brought up.
So now in 2010, I removed a "range" mark in Picnic, SBE-fixed them all & FLAC'ed 'em up to this fileset.
NOTES
---------- ---------- ********
**** FOR COMPLETISTS ONLY **** tho there's rarities that might still be a draw
---------- ---------- ********
Snakefinger's pre-Eric Drew Feldman band was called Bast & in early 1981, the Dead Residents.
For this show I didn't hear a name (or the tape didn't catch it).
He often introduced the band onstage, but didn't this night (or the tape didn't catch it).

Cleveland?
Snakey mentions LA at the end, and I wonder if this is really from there?
Hey, my tape sayz Clevo & so that's what I've gotta note for now.
- - - -
It's stereo, but it's very limited separation, super hissy & also echoey.
But it's Snakefinger, so you bounce high off the diving board before taking the plunge.
Despite the audio, this one's a fine gig & has some gems in it:
* the rarely played "The Picture Makers", "The Vivian Girls", and "I Come From An Island"
* 2 tunes I've never heard anywhere else (too bad one of them's cut) (the first one's a Dick Dale-ish instrumental)
There's a minute's worth of "technical difficulty" after Vain.
There's more when starting Picnic, they doodle with it & start the song again afterwards.
Either Snakey loses his way in I Love Mary, or had some git problems.
Snakey talks in this one, but the echoes make it hard to interpret much of it.
There's little I've seen to document his 1980 shows - a flyer & pics from CBGB's in October, and this tape.
Given that, ya gotta take it & be happy we have it, warts and all.
- - - -
Crank it up and ENJOY! it as I have, and share it so others can hear it.
- - - -
Filenames have numbers on the end that are the TIMES (ex. - "...-359" is 3min59sec long).
Filenames for guessed titles have "(QMEXQM)" in the name, as "?!?" isn't allowed in names.
Two filenames have "QM" in the name, as a question mark isn't allowed in names.
I mark the start of tracks when the music or count-in begins, not the talking about it before it starts.

Stereo AUD trade tape
Trade tape > Computer WAV > TLH v2.4.1 > FLAC 8 > DIME > you
Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader who hooked me up with a copy.
I originally mastered this 2002-09-01 & retained the original WAV fileset.
I think the only thing I did on the computer was place track marks before each piece.
This FLAC fileset comes directly from those final WAVs's, which only needed SBE corrections in TLH; no CD-Rs or EACs.
All audio is as it was when I got it; check out the sample.
NOTES
I don't know the venue, that was not provided when I got my copy.
I bought a copy of this tape off of Zorch Enterprises (Chicago) back in 1984 or so.
It was one of a half dozen Snakefinger shows from him that I later found were then-uncommon on the trading circuit in the '90s.
- - - -
Snakefinger typically named his band & would often change it up from night to night.
During this era it was simply called Bast - they are the 3 guys sitting with Snakefinger "in the Dark Sedan" in his video.
Back in these early Bast days he didn't announce the individual band members' names on stage.
I remember reading that one of the Bast guys came from the Dead Kennedys.
- - - -
This is a stereo tape, but there's not a lotta separation between the channels; it's also a bit hissy.
This is not the greatest sounding tape, but it's better than many & hey it's Snakefinger / it's the music that counts baby.
This was an alright show, plus you've got a Tuxedomoon member and his wife as guest on a couple songs.

Big thanks to the original taper & share on DIME:
Recorded by Erathostène
This was an extra track at the end of this same night's show by Indoor Life, which he'd shared on DIME.
(This part of the tour incl. Indoor Life / Snakefinger / Tuxedomoon, with Snakey & Tux toggling who closed.)
(A few nights earlier in Nancy, Tux had the middle slot & Snakey closed.)
Our friend creatured caught that this track was ol' Snakey & tipped me off about it.
All I've done was take that 1 long track / break it down by song and SBE-fix 'em / re-FLAC 'em.
The audio is otherwise unaltered from the original share of the master.
All thanks goes to Erathostène and creatured.
NOTES
Snakefinger's pre-Eric Drew Feldman band was called Bast & in early 1981, the Dead Residents.
This is likely from the Bast days.
For this show I didn't hear a name (or the tape didn't catch it).
- - - -
A short first part of a show, but quite nice sound & glad to have it.
Never had seen this show making the rounds back when I was doing tape/CDR trading.
You hear him mention Blaine L. Reininger in the intro.
On some nights of this tour, he & J.J. LaRue joined Snakey onstage.
I'm unsure if he's really in here for some of this or not.

Crank it up and ENJOY! it as I have, and share it so others can hear it.

Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader (JBK?) who hooked me up with a copy.
I dunno when I mastered this; at any rate, I no longer have the original WAVs.
This source came from that final mastered CDR, extracted via EAC / reports included.
My notes do say the right channel was low & I bumped it up to make it more balanced.
Besides that, I think the only thing I did on the computer was place track marks before each piece.
This FLAC fileset comes from the EAC extracts, which did not need SBE corrections.
NOTES
Snakefinger typically named his band & would often change it up from night to night.
For this show I didn't hear a name (or the tape didn't catch it), he just said they're "not the Residents".
He often introduced the band onstage, but didn't this night (or the tape didn't catch it).
- - - -
It's stereo, but there's minimal separation. Yeah, oh well, but it's Snakefinger manna, so you eat dontcha.
Sounds like there's some azimuth problems too, but it was like that on the source tape.
For what I've found to date, it's his first post-heart attack show / first show of the late 1981 tour captured on tape.
It's an unusually long show, & it feels like a first gig - band timing's not quite in sync at times, but the second half is tighter.
And there's some bozos in the audience that get ol' Snakey a bit riled up / he has a few comments for them.
Not the best show, but ya gotta preserve it for posterity.

I originally mastered this 2002-08-03 & retained the original WAV fileset.
I think the only thing I did on the computer was place track marks before each piece.
Since these WAVs are likely as close to the source as anything going around, I figured it's time to fix the speed problem.
This bugger was a bit too fast, and so I let Cool Edit Pro have at it.
I let it do a Constant Stretch / ratio of 106 / transpose none / high precision / resample (preserving neither pitch nor tempo).
It turned out alright & sounds about proper now, just needed a SBE fix to get these FLACs; check out the sample.

This is a stereo tape, but it's very hissy; I didn't do anything to address that, just the speed.
This is better than the average sounding Snakefinger show tape, but does it matter, it's Snakefinger baby.
It's an excellent show musically, and has always been one of my favorites.
It was the first time I'd heard that Corrupted Man's track, still wonder if it's a cover or one of his originals?

The first track here is a bit bumpy to start, once the sound settles in, it is quite good! Almost excellent, all things considered. The set here is a bit short, but very enjoyable.
The band and crowd are having a great time here. At the start of the show Snakefinger mentions the gig being a "secret". I wonder if this performance was booked in advance for the Tour, or if the band took a little side-trip ? Either way, I am glad it happened and it was taped. There is a tape-flip after "Kill The Great Raven", no music or talking is missing. Great ! The Band Introductions were spoken over a 'vamp' that flows into "Beatnik Party", so I left that as one track. A very nice early version of "I Love You Too Much To Respect You", Snakefinger says that it was written "a couple of weeks ago" and also dedicates it to the Toronto crowd. What else needs to be said, it's SNAKEFINGER !
Enjoy the show.
much thanks to all of my old trading friends.

Trade tape > Computer WAV > Cool Edit Pro > TLH v2.4.1 > FLAC 8 > DIME > you
Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader who hooked me up with a copy.
I originally mastered this 2009-11-07.
The only thing I did on the computer was place track marks before each piece.

This is a stereo tape, but there's not a lotta separation between the channels; it's also a bit hissy.
There's also a weird clicking sound in the background, esp. noticeable in the quiet parts.
Nice, if short, set.
The question mark titles may be improv pieces, I just slapped some of the words said in 'em as titles.

This was Tuxedomoon on the Ralph package tour opening up for Snakefinger.
BLR joined Snakefinger for some of his set this night, see elsewhere here on DIME for that upload.

Crank it up and ENJOY! it as I have, and share it so others can hear it.

Filenames have numbers on the end that are the TIMES (ex. - "...-359" is 3min59sec long).
Filenames for guessed titles have "(QMEXQM)" in the name, as "?!?" isn't allowed in names.
I mark the start of tracks when the music or count-in begins, not the talking about it before it starts.

WHY DID I USE MD ?
Actually Dime rules admit the use of MD as long as the original concert was on a cassette tape. I numerized Erathostene's tape on MD 12 years ago ; in those days we had no choice, because we didn't have proper computers or software to do that. In the meantime, the original tape was exposed to 10 years of demagnetization... Honestly, using MD was the best solution.
Enjoy the music, dont'sell it on e-bay.

NOTES
A very nice sounding tape of a fine performance.
A nice block of Suite En Sous-Sol tracks (a favorite of mine), and a great (if cut) KM/Seeding The Clouds.
There's a tiny cut right after the final notes of Courante.
There's a couple more for what sounds like encore clapping pauses on disc two.
