Kevin Ayers Prins Van Oranje, Venlo, The Netherlands 6 April 1982 A Hans de Vente tape Originally broadcast on Durch FM radio Hilversum 3, Vara, Lijn 3 This is at least the 4th version of this show which has been put up here. This time, I think, it's even closer to the original broadcast than all versions before. It's previously been put up by brinkhoffs which included some radio tuning on Track 01 and a tape flip in Track 08. maclen uploaded a version from 'a very old cassette tape' which borrowed tracks 06 and 09 from Brinkhoffs. As he put it, it lacked some of the clarity of the Brinkhoffs version. I can't find that on the tracker. paulbelbin used the 'Sweet Dreamer' bootleg CD as the main sorce and added tracks 06 and 09 from brinkhoffs (those aren't on Sweet Dreamer). This version comes from a recent transfer of Hans' 30 year old cassette which he never played till this day. He gave the following lineage: Sony ST 555 tuner > Sony cassette deck > TDK metal cassette > Nakamichi Dragon > Audacity > WAV 44/16 The tape flip in Super Salesman (at 6:31) was fixed by splicing in 17 seconds from brinkhoffs. All editing was made with Adobe Audition CS6. Sector boundaries were aligned using Trader's Little Helper. Finally, files were converted to FLAC (level 8). Tracks: 01 May I? (6:16) 02 Shouting In A Bucket Blues (4:16) 03 Animals (4:59) 04 Too Old To Die Young (5:46) 05 Everybody's Sometime And Some People's All The Time Blues (3:38) 06 Super Salesman (7:58) 07 Howling Man (4:11) 08 It Begins With A Blessing / Once I Awakened / But It Ends With A Curse (9:36) 09 Africa (3:20) Notes: 04 Introduced as 'Too Old To Die Young', aka 'Champagne & Valium' 08 Aka 'Why Are We Sleeping', but this is the arrangement and title as it appears on 'The Confessions Of Dr. Dream' 09 Introduced as 'Africa', aka 'Budget Tours Part 1', fades out just before the radio outro Line-up: Kevin Ayers - vocals, guitar Ollie Halsall - lead guitar, backing vocals Zanna Gregmar - keyboards, backing vocals Pere Colom - bass Bolle Gregmar - drums Websites: http://kevin-ayers.timshepard.co.uk/ http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~marwak/ And of course, the main reason this is here, is to pay respect to Kevin Ayers 16th August 1944 - 18th February 2013 Thank You Very Much.
