Trade tape > Computer WAV > TLH v2.4.1 > FLAC 8 > DIME > you
Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader (Gregg) who hooked me up with a copy.
I originally mastered this 2009-08-06.
Besides the DIME edit, the only thing I did on the computer was edit overlap & place track marks before each piece.
This FLAC fileset comes from WAVs from this dub, which only needed SBE corrections in TLH; no CD-Rs or EACs.
DIME EDIT (official track removed)
So the track "How Strange" appears on the fine, fine double LP "Pinheads On The Move", and as such can't be included here.
(My favorite Tux release, I recommend it to everyone - a collection of rarities & really old cuts from shows like this.)
I pulled out the music piece (just over 6mins) used on the LP, but left the clapping afterwards as a lead-in to the track after it.
NOTES
The sound on this is quite excellent stereo, tho this copy does have some hiss.
My source was a 100min tape; the trader put whatever fit on side one & kindly left some overlap when continuing on side two.
But the heads didn't quite line up for the first 5 seconds or so on side two, tho it quickly synced up after that.
Because of that I could not get a perfect seamless edit - you can hear the misalignment at the tail end of track 201.
(This just affects the lead in talk before a song, so mothing too major.)
Sonically, nothing else was done with the audio; it is as I got it on this tape back in the '90s.
- - - -
The quick mini-edits right near the start of Joeboy were on the source; same for the edit during track 208.
There's also an edit right after track 208 & I put the track mark there.
Tho the end of set #1 is announced & a third set is mentioned at that same point, this just appears to be sets #1 and 2 / that's all I got on the tape.
You can hear yet another song being announced at the very end, so there certainly was more played this night.

To give you an idea how old this is, Joeboy is mentioned as being their "new single".
Another must-have early show; I really enjoy the version of Nite & Day.

Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader who hooked me up with a copy.
I originally mastered this 2009-08-06.
The only thing I did on the computer was place track marks before each piece.
This FLAC fileset comes from WAVs from this dub, which only needed SBE corrections in TLH; no CD-Rs or EACs.
NOTES
I bought a copy of this tape off of Zorch Enterprises (Chicago) back in 1984 or so.
- - - -
Admittedly this one sounds a bit out of place - totally unlike the other Tuxedomoon shows of the time.
But the source hooked me up with many super rare Snakefinger / Tuxedomoon / Frith related tapes & was spot on with everything else.
This one was marked as being "Tux Live at the Plank 7/17/78", without a city - given the time, it's gotta be from SF.
And the choice was pulled from his list by name / the tape has another long Tux show paired up with it.
Anyway, this is all instrumental, and no one says anything from the stage / no familiar voices to help confirm the legitimacy.
But it does sound like slightly later Tuxedomoon, and the familiar elements of synths / violin / horn are there, plus bass & drums.
Perhaps it's a long performance piece in six parts.
As for the date, well I wonder about that.
If that's Peter Principle on bass like it sounds like it might be, then the date is too early, preceding when he joined up.
The Pinheads LP talks about weird side projects around the 1979 timeframe, allowing them to get extra bookings under the other names.
That WOULD fit when PP was involved - so I wonder if this is really from 1979 and perhaps one of those side projects?

Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader who hooked me up with a copy.
I originally mastered this 2009-06-19.
The only thing I did on the computer was balance levels, edit overlap & place track marks before each piece (SEE NOTES).
This FLAC fileset comes from WAVs from this dub, which only needed SBE corrections in TLH; no CD-Rs or EACs.
NOTES
This was one of the many tapes I bought off of Zorch Enterprises (Chicago) back in 1984 or so.
- - - -
The sound is stereo but has very limited separation; none of it it sourced from vinyl.
Seems like a source pre-mine was put onto a 60min tape; 31 1/2 mins, then a cut & a repeat overlap of about 40sec & on thru the end.
That second section has levels higher than the beginning; I did a -2.5dB Cut on the latter to try to match the beginning segment.
Then I edited the two segments together for a complete & seamless show, and broke by song.
Sonically, nothing else was done with the audio; it is as I got it on this tape many years ago.
- - - -
Someone in the group (?Steven) says "Metro" before that song starts.
A must-have early show to see the group's development; the version of No Tears here is excellent.

The lineup this night was first Winston Tong with Bruce Geduldig, then "The Special Guests" (Steven Brown and Michael Belfer), followed by the Peccadillos (Michael Belfer, Blaine Reininger and Peter Principle dressed up like Texans) and last one was a Tuxedomoon set.
If anyone knows the name of the tracks please comment on that.
Thanks to Peter Principle who let me aquire this from his archive almost 15 years ago.
Peter writes:

Boarding House, San Francisco, 3 December 1979
From the HAMMER ARCHIVES -This is an audio recording of my live radio broadcast of Tuxedomoon at the Boarding House 12/3/79.
This was a record release party for Ralph Records Subterranean Modern album.
Like all of my live recordings this was mixed direct to 2-Track Reel To Reel using headphones.
Sitting in the club with the loud P.A. sound trying to drive the amp in my mixing board loud enough to hear what I was mixing.
If you've ever been to a live concert, then, you know how loud it can be.
Mixed on a cheap Peavey MkII 12 channel mixing board to Technics RS-1500 2-Track Reel To Reel.
I will be posting most of my live recordings from San Francisco from 1979-1981.

Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader (can't remember his name) who hooked me up with a copy.
This one came to me as 1 long piece on a CDR; I did the extract in 2001, and never finished the job / still had the WAV.
(It's good I did that then, as this guy's CDRs all extract like crap nowadays.)
Sometime last year I did the track breakdown; all these WAVs needed was to be fed into TLH to fix the SBEs.
And so this final master was done on 2009-11-07.
NOTES
I had 2 copies of this show:
* one mono, with the levels up high yet the top was lopped off, dated 1980-04-29
* another stereo but limited separation, low levels but real range, dated 1080-04-27
It's all really the same source tape / same claps and yells and music in the same places.
And of course the 1980-04-27 date is known from more sources than these.
I went with the stereo source here.
So like I said, it's stereo but kinda limited separation, and it's very very hissy.
And there's spots where the original tape source drops out here & there.
Imperfect, but don't let that stop ya, it's a fine performance.
Snakefinger joins the group for one song, good stuff.
The show at City Disco was said to be part of a release party for the Residents' Diskomo EP.

This is a stereo tape, but there's not a lotta separation between the channels; it's also a bit hissy.
There's also a weird clicking sound in the background, esp. noticeable in the quiet parts.
Nice, if short, set.
The question mark titles may be improv pieces, I just slapped some of the words said in 'em as titles.

WHY DID I USE MD ?
Actually Dime rules admit the use of MD as long as the original concert was on a cassette tape. I numerized Erathostene's tape on MD 12 years ago ; in those days we had no choice, because we didn't have proper computers or software to do that. In the meantime, the original tape was exposed to 10 years of demagnetization... Honestly, using MD was the best solution.
Enjoy the music, dont'sell it on e-bay.

Whispers club was in a small basement, in the centre of Nottingham, which only lasted a year or so.
We arrived early, sat quietly at the back and watched This Heat soundcheck.
I'd say they'd be 50/100 people there at the end.
I recorded both bands but the tape of This Heat disappeared, although a recording does appear on lists, so if someone has a decent copy I'd love to hear this one again.
When 'Desire' was performed the singer helped the song along by producing some heavy rope which he proceeded to set alight (Post Arthur Brown - Pre SPK ;)) and then swirl it above his and the audience heads - Great stuff!
Maybe some Tuxedomoon aficionado can say if this was a set regular or a one-off for us punters in Nottingham?
Included is a scan of the setlist songsheet.
Traded a couple of times back in the day.

Stereo AUD trade tape
Trade tape > Computer WAV > Cool Edit Pro > TLH v2.4.1 > FLAC 8 > DIME > you
Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader (mickey) who hooked me up with a copy.
I originally mastered this 2009-11-07.
The only thing I did on the computer was place track marks before each piece.
This FLAC fileset comes directly from those final WAVs's, which only needed SBE corrections in TLH; no CD-Rs or EACs.
All audio is as it was when I got it; check out the sample.
NOTES
A very nice sounding tape of a fine performance.
A nice block of Suite En Sous-Sol tracks (a favorite of mine), and a great (if cut) KM/Seeding The Clouds.
There's a tiny cut right after the final notes of Courante.
There's a couple more for what sounds like encore clapping pauses on disc two.
- - - -
Crank it up and ENJOY! it as I have, and share it so others can hear it.

Filenames have numbers on the end that are the TIMES (ex. - "...-359" is 3min59sec long).
Filenames for guessed titles have "(QMEXQM)" in the name, as "?!?" isn't allowed in names.
One filename has "QM" in the name, as a question mark isn't allowed in names.
I mark the start of tracks when the music or count-in begins, not the talking about it before it starts.

Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader (not sure who) who hooked me up with a copy.
This one came to me as 1 long track on a CDR.
I cut about 5 seconds of silence out of the gap for the cut in Desire.
Beyond that, the only thing I did on the computer was place track marks before each piece.
I originally mastered this 2009-11-22.
(The left channel looks a bit low compared to the right, but I did nothing to address that / the levels do cross occasionally.)
I've included the EAC report (not in sync with the track#s here) more just to demonstrate a clean extract.
NOTES
A really fine sounding show.
Neither 59 To 1 nor What Use? are that long, there's some clapping in there.

Stereo FM trade tape
Trade tape > Computer WAV > Cool Edit 2000 > TLH v2.4.1 > FLAC 8 > DIME > you
Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader (mickey) who hooked me up with a copy.
I originally mastered this 2010-07-17.
The last third of the show was lower levels-wise than the rest, and I bumped it up 2dB.
And I rebalanced the channels a bit, up 2.5dB in the left for the first 2/3rds of the show / .5dB for the rest.
Beyond that, the only thing I did on the computer was place track marks before each piece.
This FLAC fileset comes from WAVs from this dub, which only needed SBE corrections in TLH; no CD-Rs or EACs.
NOTES
The first 5mins are a bit dodgy (az off on source), but it's okay after that.
Tho this is an FM, there's crackles in the background pretty much throughout (imperfect, but not as bad as those words might sound).
Between some songs, you can hear other music faintly, as if another band is playing nearby.
- - - -
It's mentioned that Egypt can be found on Sordide Sentimental, so it must be out by this time.
Desire's not really that long, there's encore clapping & the usual tuneup-b4-next song.
Another fine performance, with the full Suite En Sous Sol (my fave) intact.
Besides the Suite, I like the versions here of Family Man (Steven's solo is aces), Again & What Use?.
- - - -
Crank it up and ENJOY! it as I have, and share it so others can hear it.

The tracks have been manually decracled and normalized. Gaps and rough cuts within performances have been patched to give a continous play
The sound quality on this one is really good. The highlight is the live-version of Birthday Song (which also appears on "Tuxedomoon aka Blind" but in much worse quality.) Again CD cover art is included based on the original LP covers, which are included also. This is a great boot, snatch it if you can.

Trade tape > Computer WAV > Cool Edit Pro 2000 > TLH v2.4.1 > FLAC 8 > DIME > you
Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader (mickey) who hooked me up with a copy.
I originally mastered this 2010-08-01.
My initial dub to computer was a bit low at 60EVEN, plus tape side 2 was lower than side 1.
I bumped up side 1 3dB / side 2 4.5dB to more even things out.
Then side 2 had somewhere between 50 and 100 "tic"s, & I removed them one at a time (hope I got 'em all).
Beyond that, I removed most of the silence before encore tracks, & added track marks before each piece.
This FLAC fileset comes from WAVs from this dub, which only needed SBE corrections in TLH; no CD-Rs or EACs.
NOTES
It was a tale of two halves - side 1 clean, side 2 with its flaws (already mentioned removing the clicks).
Also, during side 2 there's a constant quiet high-pitched whine in the background.
This must've been added along the way, as it's present even in the "silence" gaps between the encores.
I can do some things on the computer, but I dunno how to address that & so it remains.
(If someone can correct it, feel free to give it a go.)
There's a crowd-clapping edit right after Egypt (nothing missing), without a gap.
And my source tape here had a whole 1sec of overlap to the start of The Cage.
At first I was tempted to do a seamless edit - but there's that whine on side 2 / not on side 1.
So, in case someone someday does try to remove the whine, I left the mini-overlap hanging on the end of 59 To 1.
For the last 2 tracks, I put the track marks where the silence gaps were.
- - - -
Putting the issues above aside, it's a decent tape capture of a fine performance.
Someone jokes about anarchists being in the audience.
- - - -
Crank it up and ENJOY! it as I have, and share it so others can hear it.

Vienna (German: Wien; Austro-Bavarian: Wean) is the capital of the Republic of Austria and one of the nine states of Austria. Vienna is Austria's primary city, with a population of about 1.7 million (2.3 million within the metropolitan area, more than 25% of Austria's population), and is by far the largest city in Austria, as well as its cultural, economic, and political centre. It is the 10th largest city by population in the European Union. Vienna is host to many major international organizations such as the United Nations and OPEC. Vienna lies in the east of Austria and is close to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

# RAW FILES - so NO additional NoiseReduction or EQ'ing was used here,
and none of those compressors, Sonic Maximizers or other psychoacoustic
processors - just some of the instrumental plug-ins reduced , balanced
the stereo channels (just a touch) and finally normalized. The only
further additions to the RAW files had been a short fade-in, so truly
NO MUSIC was harmed or lost.

Cult legends Tuxedomoon are a welcome exception in today's over-formatted musical world.
Born in 1977, in the heady atmosphere of San Franciscos postpunk golden age, the band soon became a central part of New York's No Wave scene (as documented in the recent "Downtown 81" film, centered around Jean Michel Basquiat and featuring performances by Blondie, James Chance, DNA and Tuxedomoon). "No Tears", their 2nd single (1979), has remained an electro punk club classic to this day. The band went on to sign to The Residents' Ralph Records, and released two seminal albums, "Half Mute" (1980) and "Desire" (1981) which soon got them overseas exposure.
Fleeing Reagan's America, Tuxedomoon moved to Europe in the early '80s, and stayed there throughout the decade. Although their ability to crystallize a certain dark and romantic zeitgeist quickly turned them into one of the most influential bands around, their music transcended all genres and included impossibly wide parameters rock, electronics, minimal music, classical, jazz, Gypsy music and pop were all simultaneously consumed and transmutated into a quasi-prescient blend.

NOTES
A really excellent sounding show, if a bit hissy.
There's little cuts that don't interrupt the music between Bonjour and Hugging / between Talent and Holy.
Talent has 2 cuts within the first minute; Holy has 2 cuts in the 2nd minute.
It's mentioned this is the second night in town.
Watching is dedicated to a friend Barry who's in a Tel Aviv jail.
There's a nice early version of "Break The Rules" with alternate lyrics ("no New York!").

from MILAVALENTI collection # 075
*********************************
The MILAVALENTI collection consists mostly of 80's and some 90's and 2000's masters in generally great sound. Most of the concerts which will be uploaded from this collection are uncirculated. I met the taper who is an old friend of mine recently after more than 20 years.
He was happy to give me his very precious gems to be presented to a wider public. In the 80's I often went to concerts with him and sometimes both of us were recording.
So some of the recordings which will be uploaded have been uploaded by me before as of my masters collections and some of his recordings which had been uploaded by me already as first gen copies will now be re-uploaded as master transfers.
The musical style varies from "normal Rock acts" to Wave/Punk and Avantgarde. Also some German Post-Punk acts are included.

This is an excellent fm recording of a 1985 show. "Atlantis" had a split in the middle which has been patched. "The Waltz" and "No Tears" have been removed, as they are oficially available on "Ten Years in one Night". The track "Today" is actually an old number from 1979 which was played on this tour again which has never been released officially and is unavailable elsewhere.

Thanks to the original trader (DB i think) The trade tape is dated wrong though 1983-06-26, the right date is 1986-06-26 if you check Isabelles book and also if you think of the songs played. In 1986 Tuxedomoon played a 15 dates American Tour in May and June, this show is proberbly the last one of that tour.
I didn't pick this show for any special reason, other than it was on the B-side of a snaky tape.

Trade tape > Computer WAV > Cool Edit Pro 2000 > TLH v2.4.1 > FLAC 8 > DIME > you
Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader (nice german guy / can't remember name) who hooked me up with a copy.
I originally mastered this 2009-08-26.
The only thing I did on the computer was balance levels & place track marks before each piece.
This FLAC fileset comes from WAVs from this dub, which only needed SBE corrections in TLH; no CD-Rs or EACs.
NOTES
The left channel was a bit low, and so I bumped it up when dubbing to the computer.
- - - -
It's a very excellent stereo tape, marred by a bit of static in spots & a cut in the last song.
In Roman P, I was able to remove one of the static pops & minimize the other so it's not so obnoxious; the rest remain untouched.
Besides the literal cut in Break The Rules, there's a weird sounding spot near the end; it almost sounds like an edit.
But playing it back a few more times, it sounds like the PA feed cut out the vocals.
Anyway, I made this part the sample posted.
A very fine performance from the later years.
Includes great versions of Roman P and Reeding, Righting, Rhythmatic.

Crank it up and ENJOY! it as I have, and share it so others can hear it.

I traded this from the original taper, so I asume its a first generation copy. This is the first reunion show. According to Isabelle Corbisiers book there were an afternoon and an evening show this day - I don't know which one of them is this show. It seems like the full show, only missing is the last encore "In Heaven".
Overall it is a quite listenable sounding audience recording, which had some gaps and cuts. The tracks have been normalized. Gaps and missing pieces have been restored in Audacity:
- missing first chord of "Prelude" has been restored (spliced in from sometime later, added some applause)
- cuts between tracks have been patched with spliced in applause from other breaks
- the tape flip in "The Cage" has been smoothed by the loss of ca. 4 sec ("... and the musc goes from ba [cut]" has been left out)
- restored ending of "In The Name of Talent" as it was cut near the end (duplicated last chords, merged the "what-use"-coda, added some applause)

A gap in the applause between 2 and 3 has been patched with source 2.
A msssing piece in 3. has been patched with source 2
This is an excellent fm recording of one of their 1988 reunion shows. Tracks 01-05 are the second part of a bootleg CD called "Reminicents" (see http://www.berlinwerk.de/tuxedomoon/bootlegs.html), tracks 06-10 have been seeded here in 2008 and have been tagged at the end for completeness sake - thanks go to the original seeder.
Source 2 contained the first five tracks too - the main reasons for seeding this version is:"Egypt" is complete, while the previously seeded version was missing a minute in between, the other versions of source 1 have a slight different sound, not necessarily better, but different. So, if you have already the 2008-version, you mai need only Track 2.
Together with the official "Ten Years in One Night" you can reconstruct a complete set of the reunion show, as the official release lacked: Epypt, Volo Vivace, 59 to 1, What Use and No Tears.

This one was recorded for personal use only, so at some instants i wasn't as quiet as I should have been.
The sound-quality is great and makes it worth to share this(it sounds a lot better than the official DVD),
so if you're interested in how they sound nowadays this is a must have. The electric guitar and samples
sound messy but are like they sounded in the venue.

this is an extract of a special date held in a multicultural space in Bologna, they actually played three nights (2/4 april), and this extract comes from the second date, or so we are told. As I understand, these were also their only european dates. Spacey music here... long inbetween radio commentaries (in ITALIAN) were edited out where possible, but in example the radio intro runs over the beginning of the first track, as well as the radioutro runs over the final part of Muchos Colores...
